Homemade Cinnamon Rolls



Ingredients

With the crisp weather approaching, it only seems appropriate that we share one of our favorite homemade Cinnamon Roll recipe. It has become tradition for my family to indulge on cinnamon rolls during the holidays. There’s just something about the way a cinnamon roll makes the holidays seem a bit more merry and tasty! Here is an easy homemade cinnamon roll recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Spice Merchant's salt
  • 3 tablespoons salt butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Filling

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground Spice Merchant's Vietnamese Cinnamon
Glaze
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (choose from Tahitian, Madagascar or Mexican, available at Spice Merchants)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk

 

 

 

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine milk, yeast, salt, butter, sugar and egg. Add flour and mix.
  2.  
  3. Grease a baking sheet, place the dough onto it and rolls into 12 in by 18 in rectangle.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of the melted butter.
  5. Roll up tightly lengthwise so there is one large roll.
  6. Cut the dough into 12 one-inch slices and place them on a cooking pan.
  7. Make the cream cheese glaze by mixing it with butter in a bowl until it’s light and fluffy. Add in sugar and vanilla extract. Add just enough milk to achieve a drizzle-like consistency.
  8. Frost the rolls when they’re still warm and serve immediately.
