Clementines with Star Anise and Cinnamon


1.5 cups Sweet dessert wine

6 Tbls. Sugar

6 Star Anise

1 Cinnamon stick

1 Vanilla bean

1 strip thinly pared lime rind

2 Tbls. cointreau

12 clementines


Put wine, sugar, star anise, cinnamon in saucepan.  Split vanilla bean and add to pan with lime rind.  Boil, lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.  Cool.  Stir in Cointreau.  Peel clementines, removing white membrane.  Cut some in half and arrange all in a glass dish.  Pour spiced wine over and chill overnight.
