This colorful Southwestern Orzo is created by incorporating three different ingredients; black bean, maize, and red chili. Orzo is a pasta which is about 1/3 inches long and is rice shaped; its toothy, firm texture and subtle flavors lend its use to many dishes.
Delicious in pilafs, soups, cold salads or by itself with butter.
Preparation: Add 1 cup of orzo to 2 cups of rapidly boiling water or stock. Return to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until tender, yet still al dente. Add uncooked orzo to soups or stews during the last 12 minutes of cooking. One cup dry yields 3 cups cooked.
Ingredients: Durum semolina flour, corn flour, black bean powder, wheat protein isolate, red chili pepper powder, red jalapeno powder, dehydrated egg whites, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric spice, salt, cumin, cuttlefish ink, safflower. (Contains wheat & eggs).
